From recycling projects to functioning material cycles

For Antje Schwemberger, strong networks are crucial, alongside an appropriate regulatory framework. Material suppliers, processors and buyers must come together and be able to provide sufficiently large quantities of material of reliable quality. Furthermore, practical rules are needed regarding the end-of-waste status and the cross-border movement of materials.

“Finding the right partner is only the beginning. We need to pool the material flows of several companies in order to provide sufficient volumes of reliable quality. In this way, individual recycling projects can become economically viable circular cycles,” explains Schwemberger.
