Super-thin cut-off wheels are, in our opinion, the most important product group on the market. For the product management team in the Industrial Trade division it was therefore crucial that TYROLIT – as the inventor of super-thin cut-off wheels – continue to offer the best products in terms of cutting ability and lifetime on the market in the long term. Naturally, these products have undergone continuous improvement since being launched – and with TYROLUTION we have once again proven our excellent innovative capacity.
Following intensive development work, we have taken the entire range in the BASIC, STANDARD and PREMIUM quality lines to a completely new performance level. A total of 73 new products for a wide range of applications were developed from the ground up and are now up to 60% better than their predecessors. Both the cutting ability and the lifetime were once again significantly improved compared to competitor products. This underscores our leading market position in this segment.
A product launch on this scale involves a huge amount of effort. The big day finally arrived on 1 April 2018, when we launched the new product range and began the process of replacing the existing assortment. From this date on, all incoming order levels, sales and stocks of super-thin cut-off wheels from the old and new assortments were continuously monitored in Benatky and Schwaz. Thanks to this intensive monitoring process, it has been possible not only to optimally plan the available capacity, but also to achieve our ambitious goal of quickly completing the transition to the new assortment without any sales campaigns.
We are happy to report that the changeover to the new assortment was completed in mid-2019 as planned with full availability. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the departments involved for their active support.
In conclusion, with a structured product range, a clear marketing strategy and massively increased performance factors, we have been able to consolidate our innovation leadership in the super-thin cut-off sector, and were rewarded with 8% sales growth in the first year.
