Thanks to continuous product development, we have succeeded in applying for two new patents in the field of core technology.
For a number of years now, one of the focus areas of product development in the precision machining sector has been innovative core technologies. The new GENIS 2 LW product line was launched in May 2019. Although a steel core is still used, it has a weight-optimised design. Thanks to mechanical chip removal, as much material as possible is removed from the core. The material reduction is defined in advanced in an FEM simulation. This ensures that the grinding result is not influenced by deformation of the core. The use of lightweight technology makes it possible to achieve weight reductions of up to 50% compared to steel cores.
The new GENIS 2 LW product line was introduced at this year’s EMO. The natural fibre-reinforced resin core also has similar properties to a CFK body, but can be offered something cheaper. With a density of 1.38 g/cm3, the material is lighter than CFK. The N-LW material offers excellent damping characteristics and is approved for peripheral speeds of up to 140 m/s. Both core technologies are protected by patents.
